Occupying one-fifth of Earth’s total surface area, Africa is the second largest continent in the world and contains 54 nations that encompass great cultural, historical, and geographical diversity.
Africa is also home to some of the most amazing natural wonders, such as Victoria Falls, the Sahara Deserts, Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika, Mounts Kilimanjaro and Kenya, the Nile and Niger Rivers, the Serengeti Plain, and the Great Rift Valley.
It can hardly be surprising, therefore, that Africa is home to a great variety of animals, to the greatest number of free-ranging wild animal populations, from carnivores to herbivores to jungle creatures to aquatic life.
